Numerical modeling is an instrument as important as experimental and technological research to solve the scientific problems of the twenty-first century. The mission of the laboratory is to support computational science in which interdisciplinary teams of scientists are studying fundamental problems in the natural sciences and engineering disciplines that require large computational resources and have a broad scientific and economic impact.
The lab provides reliable and sustainable computing resources and services to facilitate the use of high-performance computing and to meet the small and medium-sized computing needs of the research community at academia and high-tech SMEs located in the colorful country and region.
Main activities of the laboratory:
Climate modeling and short term weather forecasts, carbon materials, astrophysics, computational biology and nanomedicine;
Apply highly scalable modeling and simulation methods that can use massive parallelism and data storage.
To efficiently use high-performance computing resources, the lab team offers training and counseling to users to understand what hardware, software, and methodologies are available and which are suited to their needs.
