It may sound almost unbelievable, but Bulgaria ranks first in Europe in heart failure mortality - more than 60% of all deaths are being caused by a sudden cardiac arrest!

Imagine how wonderful it would have been if there was a way to easily dial emergency contacts within seconds after a cardiac arrest or another accident takes place, alarm rescuers in close proximity to your location that there was a case of emergency, and immediately receive urgent first-aid information and guidance. This would have been a great milestone in the development of first-aid help!

What if we told you that a solution like that was being developed in Bulgaria?

Today we want to introduce you to iHELP-BULGARIA and its innovative healthcare application!

The iHELP app creates a mutual assistance network of doctors, professional rescuers, nurses, firefighters and first aid volunteers, decreases the reaction time after an accident tenfold and saves human lives!

1) Please, tell us more about your company and the application that you develop.

Our team in iHelp-Bulgaria develops a mobile application for saving human lives. iHelp is a new type of IT healthcare software which can be used practically by anyone. We also offer trainings on rendering first aid which, however, are intended for children who are 14 years of age and older.

 Do you know that…

it is crucial that a heart massage is performed or a defibrillator is used within 3 minutes after a cardiac arrest takes place, before brain cells start dying. Еach minute of delay decreases the chances of survival with approximately 10%. However, it usually takes 10-20 minutes for an ambulance in Bulgaria to reach its destination.

2) What is the competitive advantage of iHelp? How does it contribute to the development of the healthcare sector in Bulgaria?

The product we offer is created to save human lives. It is patented and there are no analogous products on the Bulgarian market. The aim of the iHelp application is to render first aid – as we all know, the emergency help in Bulgaria tends to arrive with a delay… There are some similar applications, for example apps that remind you to take your medicine at a given time. The uniqueness of iHelp lies in its ability to create a mutual assistance network of doctors, professional rescuers, nurses, firefighters, and volunteers trained in rendering first aid help. The goal of this network is to allow you to alarm other people, even complete strangers, within 500 m. from the emergency destination, so that the victim could receive emergency help within 3 minutes or less after the accident.

3) We all live in a rapidly changing high-tech world. What are the future solutions that you need to focus on for the development of your business?

What we are currently looking for are partners. Every person and every partner is important, that’s why all types of partners are most welcome.

4) What would you like to achieve in the next 5 years?

We want to develop our company and our business – first in Bulgaria, then in Europe. Once we’ve developed our company, the profits will follow.

5) Do you consider Bulgaria a good place for developing a start-up? According to you, which are the main positive and negative factors of developing a start-up here?

I think that Bulgaria is the heaven on Earth :) The positive thing is that we have access to the whole world and that Bulgaria is ‘our place’ to be. There are many factors that can positively affect one’s level of success and productivity. The negative thing is that maybe the middle class starts to disappear - not from a financial point of view, but rather from a purely intellectual one. The number of people that want to create something new decreases by the day.

6) Is there something that you don’t like or find particularly annoying about the current situation in Bulgaria? What would you like to personally change about it?

I cannot think of anything that I find particularly annoying. If I had the resources, I would change the educational system.

To sum up:

Do you want to be able to help people in case of emergency, save human lives, and serve as a good example for everyone around you? Do you feel uncertain about how to act in case of emergency and render first aid? iHelp is here to help! :)

iHelp is an innovative healthcare application, which aims to create the largest mutual help emergency network of professionals and volunteers in Bulgaria. The aim of this network is to offer emergency help in 3 minutes or less after an accident takes place, and to provide people of all backgrounds with information and training in rendering first aid help.
